General & Newcomers

While KINSTRETCH® might look like yoga from a distance, it is actually a movement enhancement system focused on developing maximum body control, flexibility, and usable ranges of motion.

Unlike traditional yoga, which often emphasizes passive stretching and “holding poses,” KINSTRETCH® is a strength-based practice. You will be actively working to build stronger joints and more resilient tissues. Think of it as “strength training for your joint health”—it’s the scientific bridge between stretching and high-performance movement.

Absolutely. In fact, you’re exactly who we want to see! KINSTRETCH® isn’t about being flexible already; it’s about the process of becoming mobile.

Our instructors provide regressions and progressions for every movement, ensuring that whether you’re a pro athlete or just starting your fitness journey, you’re working at a level that is safe and effective for your specific body.

Expect to learn a lot about how your body moves (or doesn’t move!). We usually start with CARs (Controlled Articular Rotations) to assess and “warm up” the joints.

The bulk of the class involves high-effort isometric contractions designed to expand your range of motion. You’ll leave feeling like you’ve done a true workout, not just a stretch. We recommend arriving 5–10 minutes early so we can show you around the space.

FRS is the scientific backbone of our training. It’s a comprehensive system of musculoskeletal conditioning used by professional sports teams (MLB, NBA, NFL) and elite athletes worldwide.

It focuses on improving joint capacity so you can perform better in your sport and daily life while significantly reducing the risk of injury. Everything we do at Calgary Movement Studio is rooted in these evidence-based principles.

Classes & Equipment

No! While Calgary Movement Studio is a proud partner located inside Evolve Strength Royal Oak, you do not need a separate gym membership to attend our classes or private training sessions. You only pay for your sessions with us.

We are located at #600, 8888 Country Hills Blvd NW, Calgary. There is plenty of free on-site parking available in the main lot. When you arrive, enter through the main Evolve Strength entrance, check in at the front desk, and they will direct you to our studio space.

Wear comfortable athletic clothing that allows for a full range of motion. We typically train in bare feet or grip socks to better engage the feet and ankles. Don’t forget a water bottle—there is a filtered water station available in the facility. All specialized equipment like mats, blocks, and straps are provided.

Yes! As a client of the studio, you have full access to the modern locker rooms at Evolve Strength. This includes secure lockers (bring your own lock or rent one at the desk), private showers, and even the sauna/steam room to help you recover after your session.

Memberships & Pricing

We sure do! We recommend checking our current “Intro Offer” on the pricing page. It’s the best way to experience a KINSTRETCH® session and see how our methodology fits your goals before committing to a full pack or membership.

Our session packs offer flexibility for those with busy or unpredictable schedules. Once purchased, you can use them for any of our scheduled in-studio group classes. Please note that packs typically have an expiry date (usually 3–6 months) to encourage consistent progress and keep you moving!

We have a 24-hour cancellation policy for all private sessions and group classes. This allows us to offer the spot to another client on the waitlist. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will result in the loss of that session credit. We appreciate your understanding in helping us keep our small classes accessible to everyone.

Absolutely. You can book classes, track your remaining sessions, and update your billing info through our integrated booking portal. We recommend bookmarking the login page on your phone for quick access to your schedule.

Health & Injuries,

Yes! In many cases, KINSTRETCH® is exactly what is needed to improve joint capacity and reduce pain. However, we ask that you speak with the instructor before class or book a Private Assessment first. This allows us to understand your specific limitations and provide the safest “regressions” (modifications) to ensure you are training effectively without risk of further injury.

Our systems (FRS) are designed to bridge the gap between rehab and performance. We frequently work alongside healthcare providers to ensure our training supports your recovery. We always recommend clearing any new physical activity with your PT or doctor first, and we are happy to chat with them to align on your goals.

No. The movements are controlled, deliberate, and intense, but they are not “high impact.” There is no jumping or high-velocity loading that would be hard on your joints. While the internal effort level is high (you will be working hard!), it is a low-impact environment focused on joint longevity.

A core rule of our studio is “Respect the Closing Angle.” If a movement causes a sharp, pinching, or painful sensation, we stop or modify immediately. Our instructors are trained to provide alternative angles or setups so you can still gain the benefits of the exercise while staying well within your “pain-free” range of motion.
